Such beautiful landscapes and decorations, especially when it comes to Devil May Cry, we have not met for a very long time. One gets the impression that the elaboration of the environment was given almost more attention than everything else. It’s not just to look at the game – she wants to admire (there was a similar effect in the previous creation of Ninja Theory, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West ).

[Bullet]] The division into levels is not uniform: some episodes are quickly held, but a trip to the energy production factory may seem protracted.

The levels were transformed not only externally, in other parts of the action zones were diluted with a little alien acrobatic sections and dreary Gothic corridors. Riddles (one for the whole game) and shameful angles of the camera in the spirit of old PS2-explosives remained overboard when you don’t understand where to go and what to do. Also (finally!) What definitely should not be expected from the DMC: Devil May Cry, so it is dietary. The new Dante has nothing to prove. Remember the previous parts. The old hero is best characterized by that beautiful and funny, but still stupid scene from the beginning of the third part in which he eats pizza, fights with demons and kicks the chairs. And one more, and ten more after … It seems that you play only to watch another video.

There are no videos in the new game (and even more so QTE) about the transcendental coolness of the hunter for demons. This is a conscious solution, because DMC requires you not to observe, but to do business. Stylishly kill monsters. At the last moment dodging the television rays of death. Do not look like an idiot. Despite the defiant appearance, the new Dante is much more serious and does not try to pay attention by all means. It is for the better – Team Ninja managed to shift the emphasis from the character to the game itself. Now Devil May Cry is primarily associated with a beautiful, smart and very stylish slasher and only then with a beautiful Dante.

I like the first two Devil May Cry (although it is customary to scold the second part in a decent society), I love the pompous pathos of Dante’s AWAKENing, but for half (I didn’t have enough for more) DMC4. In the new generation, new ideas were waiting for the series, but actually received the original level with toned graphics: the same endless corridors made in conscience, but not without flaws, a combat system, boring after the insane directing of Hideoaki, you can continue for a long time.

Therefore, the news that the talented authors of Enslaved would take care of, I took with enthusiasm – at least for history, characters and the environment could not be worried.

The British did not just justify, but surpassed all the expectations. Limb wants to look for a long time, stently examine: a fantastically designed environment, a beautiful art, amazing lighting and post -effects. You even forget what the game was done on Unreal Engine. But directly fighting in Devil May Cry is no less interesting. The updated combat system is much more collected, more compact and faster than the previous. After a couple of hours, fingers reflexively make complex combo, but no dislocations happen. Play became much more convenient, but not easier – you have to change tactics with lightning speed, switch weapons and counterattack. Excellent slasher.

Well, the main character … The developers themselves perfectly joked about the change of image at the beginning of the game. And what does it matter – in DMC the process is much more important than the length of the dante bangs.

I like the new DMC, but it is strange that it looks like Devil May Cry even more than you expect from it. This is still a game about wanders, and with the change of the developer, they reached a completely new level – the characters not only cut each other into pieces, but also swear loudly, and in general everything here looks and feels as provocatively as not every Japanese can be provocative game. The problem is that I perceive the British from Ninja Theory exclusively as good storytellers, and a slasher about a violent teenager, demons that champs pus and loud belching – this, of course, is a little not the game that you want to get from them.

But this is a great Devil May Cry, where it is interesting to fight. If DMC5 after Bayonetta It looked like previous parts, it would be impossible to play it, but here everything is very correct – faster, more convenient, more complicated and more beautiful. Neither the holy pomp of original games, nor a colorful adventure of the same Enslaved is felt here. And what from that? My favorite Devil May Cry remains Devil May Cry 3, my favorite game Ninja Theory – Heavenly Sword , And the new DMC is a cool seasonal action about swords and pistols, which is also very needed. I would like such things to come out three per year.

Ninja Theory rebooted Dante, but forgot to reboot Devil May Cry. The brilliantly designed game world, architecture with traveled walls, a failed sex and violations of all geometric laws for the sake of beauty do not change what, in addition to a very beautiful picture, there is nothing in the DMC. The biggest problem of the game is a tedious, disgusting platforming. I would not pay attention to him (after all, the game is not about him), if jumping from ledge to ledge did not take so much time, and almost half of some levels pass behind this. It is not interesting to fly over the abysses and pull the platforms from the walls, the authors simply scored the timing, because they did not come up with anything better.

Another problem is that the game has lost self -irony. Funny moments are still found, but in the new, darker aesthetics they are perceived differently. There are a lot of banalities in the DMC, which are not beaten in any way: those who have gone crazy from the impunity of politics, corporate media, corporate propaganda, an absurd flirting with religion and further in this spirit, without the slightest fiction. In the previous Devil May Cry, such things were part of a believable background, and here they were brought to the forefront for some reason.

As for the most important – fighting – they are not so bad, but by the best moments of the first and third part are never approached. Alas.

If you worried that Dante's new hairstyle and his well -groomed nails in DMC: Devil May Cry is only a small part of the fact that Ninja Theory has broken, spoiled and deprived of his soul, you can safely wipe tears and even relax a bit. Despite all the cosmetic and plot changes, the same game remained deep inside, where Dante (for the sake of rating glasses) quickly, clearly and beautifully cuts not the most pleasant ones in the appearance of witches and demons. If the departure from the aristocratic roots of the series and the visual changes that the British decided on, for some reason you took as a personal insult and delicious spit in your native grandmother, then begin to worry about your nerve cells with renewed vigor. After all, before you see at least a little of the same Devil May Cry, you will probably go crazy from the incredibly witty jokes Ninja Theory towards the original trilogy.

But, if you collect the will in a fist and look at the game soberly and impartially, it is difficult not to notice how cool the slasher got the authors of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Fresh, fast and impudent-it just exudes coolness. And do not look at the fact that Dante's sword is no longer so big. The size is not important, the main thing is how it uses it.
